” I wanted to thank you and your staff for all you did for our mom during her time at The Gables. Looking back the counsel you gave us before we brought mom there was tremendously helpful. She was quite mad and upset when we transferred her there. To go through that twice would have been very traumatic.
It didn’t take mom too long to feel comfortable and after the first year I had to really talk hard to even get her to go drive by her house and go to the cemetery to visit dad’s grave site. She felt like she was needed right there to pray at meal times, and needed to be there to make certain it was done. She would get so upset if people would start to eat before the food was blessed. She loved being able to go to church, attend Relief Society, get her hair done weekly, and have someone do her wash.
The room suggested and chosen for her proved to be perfect. She could see people come to visit, see residents sitting outside, and then join them. She watched and enjoyed the farmers outside her back window move sprinkling pipes and harvest the crops.
The staff was so kind and patient with the residents. She commented that the food was always good and she got plenty to eat. We were relieved to know she had 3 meals a day, that someone was there, if she needed help, and that her meds were given to her on time. If she ever had an accident someone was there to help her clean up and not shame her.
It took her a while but eventually she even looked forward to playing games on Monday and getting the chocolate treats. She loved singing the old songs and being with others by the fireplace. She got so she enjoyed the school and church groups that came to sing to the residents. She was always proud she could share her newspapers with others there. It was interesting to watch how many just looked at the ads or things for sale.
You and your staff were always very kind and patient with the residents, their families and the groups that came to perform. Thank you for helping to make this a comfortable and pleasing time for our mom and her family members. I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend to others you and your excellent staff and facility.
Love to you and your family.”
